This diary is geared towards South Carolina's third grade social studies standards.
The diary is written in a narrative format with spaces for your students to take notes on each region they "visit". Your students will also have the opportunity to "take" pictures of things they see along the way. An answer key is provided.
In my class, we do the notes together. We read the notes out loud, and as we come to the blanks, I tell my students what to write (I write the answers on the SMARTboard). This is a good way to keep all students engaged. It's also a good way to incorporate shared reading!
The front cover is black and white, so your students can color it however they choose.
Also included is a word search containing some of the key vocabulary from the diary, a Venn Diagram for comparing/contrasting two regions, and a SC map for students to label the regions.
The cool thing about this packet is that it becomes a study guide after it's graded. :-)
