This set includes:
♦ Thorough presentation starts with the African American soldiers returning from WW2 and finding that opportunities are scarce, and segregation is still widely practiced in the state. It goes into the inequality of schools and the lawsuit against Clarendon County Schools that was part of the Brown v. Board of Education case that eventually ended school segregation. It discusses Rosa Parks, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and how their contributions to the movement affected our state. It covers the eventual peaceful integration of public schools in the state, starting with Clemson University and the rights for African Americans that were restored at the end of the movement.
♦Assessments with a "Before and After" chart on the Civil Rights Movement, with response questions. Another with a chart on Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on their actions and how those actions affected our state. It also includes response questions, and an extended response question.
♦ Three way vocabulary cards for matching, study, or memory game
♦ Keys for the assessments
This is a great set if you teach South Carolina history and covers all of the material in the related standards and highlights from the support documents.
When using the PDF as a presentation, make sure to go to "View" and then to "Full Screen". It will show just like a PowerPoint!
