This set is written from my own experience as a person with Non Verbal Learning Disorder. When I was in college, I was expected to be my own self advocate.

I wished at the time that there was a template I could follow and bring to my professors to quickly explain what my needs were.

Now that I have graduated and have taught in public schools, I realize that teachers need a reminder about their students needs.

I wrote this set to outline the process of being a self-advocate the first day of class.

There is a set of checklist to go through before school starts. The outline will help you write down information about yourself. The elevator speech will help you quickly introduce yourself to the teacher on the first day of class. The teacher letter will remind your teachers through the year about your needs.

As a PDF file, you can upload this to a digital device and use the interactive checklist to check off your steps.
