This timeline is tailored for the National Geographic Space Exploration Timeline on the National Geographic website at:
This product includes the regular print version as well as the digital Google Drive version.
Students make their way through the online timeline and answer questions/ find facts from the worksheet. The worksheet is laid out as a nice visual timeline of when major events in space exploration took place.
Events include: first animal in orbit, first successful American satellite, NASA signed into law, first manned moon landing, first international space rendezvous, launch of Voyagers 1 & 2, Challenger explosion, and more.
This activity is differentiated by nature because the National Geographic Space Exploration Timeline includes LOTS of information and pictures so your curious, self-motivated students will have fun exploring a bit more.
Additionally, the last page of this activity includes directions for students to independently research events that have occurred in space exploration in the past decade (National Geographic's timeline only goes up to 2005). On that page, there is a list of websites where students could start their research.
