practice reading the digraphs sh, ch, and th both at the beginning and ends of words. When the student
is able to read and sort out the words, they can write them in a special one of a kind Earth book. This activity contains 24 different words with digraphs. The Earth book is made up of 7 pages. Whether you
have your students working independently, in small groups, or as a large .Simply print off this file and the

*Out of This World Digraphs- an activity for students to practice decoding words with digraphs. This 12 page document includes 4 digraph mats (ch, sh, wh, th), 20 rocket cards (5 cards for each digraph) with words that include a digraph, and 2 recording sheets. This is the perfect activity for your students to do during your Space Unit!! This activity can be used during your small group instruction, individualized for any of your students, or used in a literacy station/center. To use this activity, print the digraph mats and rocket cards on card stock and laminate for durability. Students will have to use their reading strategies to decode words with digraphs, blends, and CCVCe words. They will then put the rocket on the correct mat. Once all cards have been put on the correct mats, students can record their answers on the sheets provided.
*Out of This World Sentences- This activity uses sight words on different planets. Students need to put the words in the correct order to make a sentence. All sentences use common sight words as well as some CVCe words. The sentences were made for students to identify the capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and the period at the end. To make this product, print, laminate, and cut out the sentences. Put words with the same planet in baggies along with a recording sheet. You can use this in a writing or literacy center/station, small group work, individual, or an intervention group
*Alien S Blends-This activity is originally designed for differentiated or small groups, but can be used by both individuals and the whole class. Students will draw an alien space ship and read the word on the card. After the word is read, they then will place the alien on the correct blend mat (sp, sk, or sn). Once all the words are sorted into their appropriate areas, students will then write the words on an assessment sheet.
*Space Fluency Check- includes 4 pages (capital, lower, both capital and lower case together, and also nonsense CVC words) for students to read as fast as they can within a minute.
This activity encourages emergent readers to identify each letter rapidly. Simply print the individual sheets on card-stock and laminate for durability. You can use this activity for small groups. Once this product is laminated your students can use a dry erase marker and a timer to track their own progress. This product can also be used as an individual assessment administered by a teacher.
*Space Compound Words-a great hands on activity for your students to match two words to make a compound word. An additional writing sheet is included to use for a formative assessment on this skill.
