This is the first lecture from my Space Technology & Engineering class I taught to high school students. It is also used for training my Florida Astronaut Challenge team, For more information on that, go here: http://www.astronautchallenge.com/
This slide set probably covers 3-4 class periods. Topics include:
1) The Atmosphere
2) What flies where
3) Flying in the troposphere
4) Flying in low Earth orbit
The class starts by going to a Virtual Ballooning site (you can find the worksheet there as well) https://scied.ucar.edu/virtual-ballooning
There are a couple of videos. The links are included in the PowerPoints.
This lecture could also easily be used in an advanced Earth Science class at any level (topics would include the Atmosphere and the Sun)
