Description

Space Vocabulary:
This foldable activity can be used as part of an interactive notebook or as a stand alone activity.
Vocabulary words include: universe, galaxy, solar system, sun, planet, moon, asteroid, comet, dwarf planet

I designed this activity because I wanted my students to be able to differentiate between these important key vocabulary words, while also VISUALIZING that the solar system is part of a galaxy and the galaxies are part of the universe. This is intended to support your teaching of these vocabulary words.

Copy one set per student.
This is a foldable activity intended to reinforce space science vocabulary, while demonstrating the main components of the universe.

Please note:
*Students will need access to pictures of spiral, elliptical, and irregular galaxies to draw/sketch examples.
*After creating the foldable, students will need to handwrite the vocabulary word “universe” as well as the definition onto the outside (the definition is included in the directions).
*It is best used when glued into a student composition book as part of an interactive notebook.
*Some students may need assistance cutting and folding. The actual size of the finished foldable activity is 4.25 x 4.25 inches.
*The information in the foldable is as detailed as possible for this activity, but not comprehensive.
*I like to let students highlight and add color to their foldable when finished.
*There is also a blank template option.
