Spaghetti and Meatball Conjunctions

★ Visual to teach the conjunctions

★ Cloze Sentence Card Game: Students will pick a card and complete the sentence using the appropriate conjunction. Students can use the visual to help them. If they pick the “fork” card, then they will lose a turn. The student with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.

★ Sentence Combining Fun: Students will pick a card and read the two sentences provided. They must understand the relationship between the two sentences in order to combine them using one of the target conjunctions. Each card has a point value. At the end of the game, the students can add up their points to determine a winner.

★ Writing Conjunctions: Students will look at the picture. Then, they will be able to write sentences using the conjunctions "however," "although," and "but."

★ Practice worksheet: Students will practice and review their understanding of the conjunctions to complete cloze sentences provided.
