The phonogram has three main sounds. The longer /ee/ sound is the more common phonogram found in words, with the shorter sound /ê/ being the next most frequent sound this phonogram represents.
More time is recommended teaching this phonogram. Model the three sounds and marking words with this phonogram in it. Model problem solving reading unfamiliar words to determine the pronunciation of these words.
Sorting activities with these words is also suggested and included in this resource. This provides learners opportunities to explore and investigate the different sounds. Blank cards also allow learners to add additional words that they find when exploring.
