Spanglish is a great movie to watch with your Spanish class. Through the eyes of a young woman applying to University, we watch her point of view of her mother's actions. It illustrates the cultural differences between what she calls "White America" and her Mexican culture. It also brings up a lot of social issues such as self-image, alcoholism, depression and differences between the standard of living in the United States.
This package includes a quick introduction for the teacher, some debate topics and two worksheets which can be adapted to suit your needs. I have included 2 worksheets since there is a difference in understanding and language between Grades 9-10 and 11-12.
