This is a tutorial for the FREE program Audacity. My students use Audacity in my Spanish classes to record audio for many different digital projects.
This tutorial uses the Spanglish version of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. Students must work in pairs to record themselves reciting the poem. After learning some of the basic functions of Audacity, students must then add in sound clips and add effects. I included the sound clips that are referenced in the tutorial.
This could also be used as a fun tech project before Christmas. Plan on at least 2 days for this project, but it could easily take 3 days for some students. There are many options for students to make this project their own and show their creativity if they finish early.
Before using this tutorial, teachers will have to do a few things:
--I put all sound files in a location on my school's network that students have access to. You will need to put the sound files in a "share folder" and make sure the correct location is in the directions.
--There are different versions of Audacity! Check that your version matches my tutorial. The differences are usually minor, but if you are not tech savvy yourself, it will make your day difficult!
--If you have not used Audacity before, do the tutorial on your own first. It will enable you to better answer students' questions.
