DESCRIPTIONS:
Family Tree Vocab Game - Go Fish!/¡Pesca!
This game is based on the traditional children's card game "Go Fish," but instead of the cards having numbers and suits on them, there are pictures of characters from a family tree and descriptions of those characters in Spanish. For example, one of the cards says "El abuelo de Pedro." The match to this card would be the one with the picture of Arturo on it because according to the family tree diagram provided, he is the grandfather of Pedro. Detailed instructions of how to play the game are included with the product. There are a total of 62 cards in the deck: 31 face cards and 31 description cards. This is a fun, interactive way for your students to practice their family relations vocabulary!

The product has a total of 20 pages: 14 pages of cards (7 in color, 7 in black and white), 2 pages of card backs (1 in color, 1 in black and white), 2 pages for the family tree diagram (1 in color, 1 in black and white), 2 pages for the instructions (1 in color, 1 in black and white).

Please note that this activity does require some prep work: You must print and cut up the cards in order to have the decks ready for the students to play with prior to the beginning of the class you intend to use the activity. Printing the cards on cardstock paper and/or laminating them will make the more durable and reusable.

Family Vocab Practice - "I have, Who has?"/"Yo tengo, ¿Quién tiene?"
In this activity, the students will be divided into groups of 6 and given a family tree labeled with the names and ages of each character. Each student will be given 3 of the "I have, who has?" cards. Each card has a question that asks who has a certain member of the family, described in Spanish. The student with the first card (in this case: "¿Quién tiene la madre de Pedro?") will read their card first. The student who has the answer to that question (in this case, "Yo tengo Teresa") will read their card. The game continues in this fashion until everyone has read all three of their cards and the students have reached the last card (the one that says "fin").

The product has a total of 3 pages: 2 pages of cards and 1 page for the family tree diagram.

Please note that there is a bit of prep work involved with this activity: You must print out and cut up the cards prior to when you intend to hand out the game to the students.

Family Tree Vocab Practice - Partner Activity
In this activity, the students are divided into pairs and each student is given a family tree and a list of 12 questions in Spanish. The students take turns asking each other the questions and answering in Spanish. Each question describes one of the people on the family tree and the student must identify which person it is. EXAMPLE: "¿Cómo se llama la abuela de Anita?"

The product is a total of 5 pages: 2 in color, 2 in black and white, and one answer key.

"¿Dónde está...?" Family and House Vocab Practice Activity
In this activity, the students are given a family tree, a floor plan of a house with family members placed in each room, and a list of 17 questions in Spanish. Each question asks where a certain member of the family is in the house. For example, "¿Dónde está el hijo mayor de Beatriz?" The students must refer to the family tree diagram to determine who the oldest son of Beatriz is, then refer to the house floor plan to determine in which room that family member is. The students must write their answers as a complete sentence in Spanish. I had my students work on this activity with a partner, and they loved it!

The product has a total of 4 pages: 1 list of questions, 1 family tree diagram, 1 house floor plan, and 1 answer key.
