This is a great activity for Spanish 1 students when practicing forming the following 5 verb tenses and constructions: present, simple future (ir + a + infinitive), tener + que + infinitive, acabar + de + infinitive, and present progressive.
Students must use critical-thinking skills
to first figure out which verb tense goes with which header. For example, the tener + que + infinitive column is called "What one has to do" and the acabar + de + infinitive column is called "What one just did."
Next, students need to recognize the verb form (yo, tu, ella, etc.) of the given verbs in each row.
For example, the first row may include the verb form "habla" in the "Present" column, so students must fill in the remaining boxes horizontally with the el/ella/usted forms (va a hablar, acaba de hablar, esta hablando...etc).
There are 8 verbs included
in each grid and two grids are included for a total of 16 verbs.
The first grid uses common regular verbs while the second grid uses common irregular verbs.
Answer keys are included.
