If you like the ideas in my book The World Language Daily Tech Guide, and decided to use the popular free download sample for the first day, you probably are trying to figure out how to make the time to make a DTG for your Spanish TWO class in order to keep them in the target language and improve behavior.
I am sharing for $2.00 a day the Daily Tech Guides that I make at home. They are created in PowerPoint and can easily be imported into Active Inspire software for the Promethean Board as objects or the Notebook software for the Smart Board or other interactive board software.
The days are cumulative so they overlap with the song of the week staying the same for, well, a week.
This is my first time teaching Spanish Two this century!!!!!!!!!!!! I have taught it for ten years, but to more advanced students who learned many tenses using Spanish for Mastery.
These DTGs are for a class called ‘college prep’ meaning not honors. We use Realidades book 2.
I really don’t know how long I can keep up with both Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 but let’s start and see what happens.
(2016 update - I only was able to take the first four and as it was too time consuming to make everything in compliance with copyright laws - I use a lot of pictures of famous people from the internet for my class that I couldn't for a TpT product.
Today I am going to use more English to teach them one time how to read.
This took more time than I had imagined, but I do believe the research that says people who don’t read well don’t create pictures in their minds.
Since teaching this lesson I have had 3 more lessons with these students and I realize that I can’t judge their reaction until a few days later.
After this training which took about 20 minutes, they are coming in and during the preclass and reading and drawing before I show them the picture that goes with the caption. Basically they are reading two sentence captions. They want me to walk around and see their drawing.
I offered to just use the book readings and they all insisted I keep doing the current events. This surprised me as they had a flat affect when I taught this lesson. (Unlike the charades which they loved.)
So, here is my lesson on teachig non-honors students how to read.
Daily Tech Guide – Spanish 3- day 1 includes 75 slides and wiki downloads.
Today’s activities for a 50 minute class period include:
1. Greetings choral response and quick practice with partner while hw is collected.
2. Pre-class read current events sentence, underline words that are known, list cognates
3. Reading Strategy activity fill in grid for cognates, prefix, suffix, context clues, drawing
4. Question song.
5. Review adjectives from vocabulary sheet and write in English that students remember.
6. Review flash cards with adjective words and image
7. Go over homework.
The lower price reflects that not everything is included as homework is from the text. This is just to help you get the creative juices flowing for Spanish 2 - hope it helps. Ellen
