Students work in partners. Partner 1 faces the board. Partner 2 has his/her back to the board. Partner 1 must describe the words listed on the board to partner 2 without saying the word. Students thereby use circumlocution to get their partner to guess the vocabulary.
When partner 2 has guessed all of the words, students switch seats. (Advantages to this: 1) The teacher has an idea when the groups are finished. 2) the students view it as competitive and try to beat one another)
Each slide contains 3 or 4 words for the students to guess along with a picture for one of the words to help them recall what the word is.
This game is wonderful just before or after a vocabulary quiz or as a review before a test.
