In Spanish, the only final consonants used are: /r/, /s/, /d/, /l/, and /n/.

There is no English /r/ (only trill /r/ and tap /r/), "h," /z/, "sh," "j," or "zh" (as in "beige) used in Spanish.

* While many cultures produce the /v/ as a /b/, there are some that produce /v/ as a softer version of /b/. However, there is no English /v/ used in Spanish. These cards should be used to help those students who come from cultures who do use a slight variation between /b/ and /v/.

** The /w/ sound used in Spanish is often paired with a consonant in the medial position, thus making it a cluster.
