This taste test project was the culmination of a unit on likes/dislikes and food in my 7th grade Spanish 1 class. It can be adapted for any level and any language -- suggestions inside!
I gave this project as a substitute for a traditional paper test, and as an opportunity for students to practice their speaking and listening skills for an extended period of time. This project was, by far, my students’ favorite project of the year. They enjoyed the fact that the taste test was authentic, that it was “something they might have to do in ‘real’ life.” They also liked having the chance to work in pairs, sample food, and that the test’s repetitive format allowed them to improve as they went along.
