Yep, January after winter break can be a drag - so add some excitement by introducing this song about school being cancelled tomorrow for snow. Students love talking about the possibility so have them do it in Spanish!

This video is streamed but you can download the video to insert into your classroom presentations because it is included in the support documents. Click here for free instructional video for inserting videos into PowerPoint and grouping them to transport to a different machine.

It also has a PDF that can be made into a pre-class booklet. See the preview video explanation. One part has slightly blurry words as I shrunk down the jpegs. If that will make you mark down this video, because of the extra little sheet I added, then please pass on this product. I put in the worksheet as a bonus and I am not great at them. Thanks for understanding.

While most of my Spanish videos are for transitions, some are for connecting to students with topics of high interest. We always are balancing staying in the target language and engaging them with high-interest topics beyond the typical curriculum's requirements.

I’ve noticed that music creates a super-path to long term memory and I hope the students remember these expressions about talking about the weather.

It is fun to sneak in the subjunctive in level one with this song and to talk about traditions that students do "to make it snow" We included wearing the pajamas inside out and putting a frozen spoon under the pillow but passed on flushing ice in the toilet, much to my students' dismay.

Ojalá que nieve pero
que no sea breve
Y recibir el comunicado
que el colegio está cerrado
Ojalá que nieve
pero que no sea breve
Y recibir el comunicado
que el colegio está cerrado

Se pone una cuchara
debajo de la almohada sabes
Y antes de dormir
nos ponemos la pijama al revés
Se pone una cuchara
debajo de la almohada sabes
Y antes de dormir
nos ponemos la pijama al revés
Ojalá que nieve
pero que no sea breve
Y recibir el comunicado
que el colegio está cerrado
Ojalá que nieve
pero que no sea breve
Y recibir el comunicado
que el colegio está cerrado

Aplaudiremos con ganas
si no hay clases mañana
Si no hay clases mañana
¡No hay clases mañana!
