We can’t always take our students on field trips to the Spanish-speaking countries we teach them about. But a Google Earth (or Google Maps “Street View”) virtual experience can be a great way to give them a taste of what it’s like to explore a Spanish-speaking city.
This product includes a PDF and an editable Word document with a check-list of places for your students to screen-shot during a Google Maps Street View Scavenger Hunt. It opens the doors for discussion on many topics related to the Hispanic culture. I use this activity when I teach Around the City vocab and the concept of shopping at little specialty shops (frutería, lechería, zapatería, _____-ería) in Spanish-speaking countries.
An I Can Statement to go with the activity: I can explore geography, landmarks, and typical everyday scenery of a Spanish-speaking city.
