This set of cards has both English and Spanish classroom object words.
I use these cards in multiple ways:
Slap: Partnerships spread cards out on desk face up between two desks. Teacher calls out a word (either in English or Spanish). The first partner to SLAP the correct translation gets to keep the card. Whichever partner has the most cards at the end wins! To put a twist on it, sometimes I will say, "If you talk, you have to give your partner a card!" It helps to keep kids quiet and focused.
1-2-3 Flip: Students are in partnerships. The put stack of cards face down in a pile. They say 1-2-3 and flip one card over. Whichever partner says the translation of the card first gets to keep the card. It encourages speed/and knowledge.
Memory: Cards can be used for the classic memory game.
Match: I will give students a timer and they will time themselves to match the English to Spanish cards.
I print this set out such that I have about 15 sets (so that each partnership can have a set, or students can use them in small groups)---and then cut them out.
Colored paper helps.
