This is a two part unit on the Spanish vocabulary set for classroom objects. Students will learn to read, write and say more than 15 vocabulary words, using them in a complete sentence as part of a project wherein they construct 'backpacks' out of inexpensive materials such as tape and lunchbags. The lesson includes detailed instructions for making the backpacks, as well as a point by point agenda for each lesson, including directions and suggestions for pre- teaching the target vocabulary, practicing it, and preparing for the oral presentation. Included in this 9 page packet: a detailed rubric, a study sheet with all target vocabulary and structures, and 2 photographs of a successfully completed project. I have 'test driven' this project myself and found it to be fun, interactive, and very effective in teaching the target vocabulary. If you have any language classes after lunch, you know how difficult it is to engage students! I developed this project as a way to get busy hands even busier while learning appropriately. It worked! Enjoy.
