This conversational game has students practice asking each other birthdays and telling their name and birthdays. I primarily use this with 3rd and 4th grade, but it could be used for other beginning Spanish students as well.
1. Cut out cards. Each include a famous person’s name and birthday. Also included are fill-in-the-blank phrases for students to use as guides during the game.
2. Give each student a card and tell them to keep secret their name and birthday until the game begins.
3. Students then go around the room asking each other, “¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?” Students respond by filling in the blanks on their card with their information. For example, if the student has Tim Tebow August 14th, he would answer with “Me llamo Tim Tebow. Mi cumpleaños es el catorce de agosto.”
4. You can either have students do this for a set length of time for conversational purposes or have them write down a certain number of names and birthdays as they go around the room.
