Students love these cooperative learning, hands on vocabulary puzzles! With this activity, students match Spanish / English conditional tense conjugations of 26 common regular and irregular verbs as they assemble 4 x 4 puzzles. Examples of verbs used are tener, saber, decir, poner, poder, haber, trabajar, abrir, ir, and jugar. Many verbs are repeated which makes the puzzle more challenging. The puzzle contains a bilingual list of all verbs alongside it that can be used as a student reference or bookmark. Also included is a page of tips and suggestions for using the puzzle.
There are 2 designs of puzzles to allow for differentiation:
Also included are 2 versions of a written translation activity puzzle. For these, only the Spanish conjugations are included. Students must write the English translation of the conjugations. One version includes the Spanish / English infinitives alongside and the other includes the Spanish only and students must write the English meanings there, as well.
Just photocopy enough for class sets (1 for every 2 students if working in pairs, or 1 per student if working alone), cut and fasten with a paperclip. Distribute to students and challenge them to reassemble the puzzles as quickly as possible.
The puzzles are fun activities to use when introducing and reviewing the conditional tense, and they're also helpful for sub lessons. After students assemble the puzzles, they can use the word lists to quiz each other on the vocabulary.
A future tense puzzle with the same verbs is also available on TpT.
