Spanish Conversation 2 Days, Months & Seasons
Questions in Spanish to be used in pairs with useful vocabulary included on sheet.

Teacher’s Notes:

What do teenagers want to do more than anything else in the world? TALK! So give them the chance in Spanish. Provide them a safe environment to express themselves, and they will talk themselves off the page. They will start to recycle grammar constructions and vocabulary used from “el papelito de preguntas” and use them in other communication in the classroom.

How do I use these questions in my Spanish classroom?

1. Pairwork - I most often use these questions in pairs. I put the students in groups of two and assign roles to each student. One student is the “profesor/a” and the other is the “estudiante.” The “profesor/a” asks the questions and the “estudiante” answers the questions. When I think they are coming close to the end, I have them switch “roles.” If there is a group of three, I have one “profesor/a” and two “estudiantes.” I generally do something like this everyday. Once they get in the habit of asking and answering questions, they get into the groove and do not require instructions. I ask them to orally answer questions and not write down the answers during class, although they can take notes. If there is a speedy pair, I try to stretch them by asking them to provide more complex and developed answers.

2. Large Group Lesson - Depending on confidence levels of the students, I will pass out the questions, give them a moment to read them, and go over questions as a large group.

3. Homework - I sometimes ask them to answer these questions in complete sentences for homework.

4. Assessment - 5 question quick quiz. I orally ask 5 random questions from the sheet and have them write their answers on a piece of paper. Add 5 questions to your written unit exam.

5. Assessment - End of semester oral interview. Randomly select questions from the sheets and ask students questions for their interview.

I do not include an answer key, but would be happy to create one if you think it would be useful. Please let me know if you would like to see one included.

Thanks and buena suerte. I hope these questions get your students talking and producing as much as my students.
