I use this packet when I debate in my advanced Spanish classes. The class is divided into two groups with differing positions. Before the debate begins, each group comes up with 3 reasons to support their position. The reasons are broader ideas. The groups must also come up with 2 more specific ideas to support their reasons (apoya). After the groups have finished, they present their reasons and support to the other side. Each group copies down the other group's reasons & supports. For the next step, each group writes rebuttals (refutaciones) for the other group's reasons. Each reason is then debated, for a total of 6 reasons. Finally, there is space for each group to write and present a final argument. This format has made debating in Spanish fun and organized for my students!
