¡Hola! This is a two-page worksheet to help students practice the use of a Spanish-English dictionary. Specifically, students must look up English words that have different meanings, and consequently different Spanish translations. I always use the word 'bat' as an example for my students [it can be a noun referring to the animal, a noun referring to the instrument used in sports, or a verb meaning 'to hit']. Students will need to pay close attention to the symbols and descriptions in their dictionaries in order to choose the right term. (For nouns, they must also identify the gender and appropriate definite article.)
This worksheet is great for sub work, assuming Spanish-English dictionaries are available.
Pages 1-2 -- Students must determine parts of speech based on contexts given, and then use a dictionary to find the appropriate Spanish term. For nouns, they must also provide the gender and appropriate definite article. (Thumbnails 1-2)
Pages 3-4 -- Identical to pgs 1-2, but parts of speech are provided. (Thumbnails 3-4)
Pages 5-6 -- Answer key
