Sentence mixer games are one of my favorite ways to add collaborative learning to my class! Groups work together to assemble sentences using the target verb tense or grammar skill.
This file includes instructions on how to make the most of this game – with an easier option that takes 15 minutes, and a more challenging option that can fill over a half hour.
The sentences are intentionally designed to keep reviewing syntax, word order, and agreement. Each set includes 10 scrambles, and there is at least one negative statement to practice negation, one question to practice interrogative word order, etc.
This activity reviews Spanish direct object pronouns. I intentionally kept the vocabulary simple and only used present tense. This activity reviews direct object pronouns only – not combined with indirect object pronouns.
Sentence mixers take a little bit of prep - I cut apart all the pieces and put each set in a snack-sized Ziplock bag. But once that's done, you can keep them to use for each class for years to come.
