The Cut and Paste Spanish-English
by Nancy Remkus “Earth Song Education”
This package includes all the pages you need for each child in your class to create their own picture dictionary. The interactive nature of the “Cut and Paste Picture Dictionary” enables children to be an active part of this creation. This dictionary can be referred to for assignments throughout the year. At the end of the year each child will have their own dictionary to leave school with. It can be used to teach Spanish or English interchangeably.
The package is divided into 46 different units based on instructional topics you may cover-such as family, home, clothing, habitats, numbers, colors, shapes, holidays, and much much more. These categories could either help guide or support your instruction. They can be done in any order you prefer.
Each unit is very colorful but can easily be copied and completed in black and white. I have used blank books (purchased from “Bare Books” or any similar company) to paste each unit into. If it is not possible to purchase blank books, units can be glued onto construction paper and made into a book using yarn or any other fastening method. A copy of a horizontal or vertical cover is included with a space to write each child’s name.
Each unit includes six content area words. In Spanish the articles are colored blue for the masculine form and maroon for the feminine form. As you know there are many Spanish dialects that differ greatly from each other in pronunciation and vocabulary. If you do not feel comfortable with the vocabulary used in a particular unit-feel free not to use it.
Organized, interactive, fun, colorful this package can be a real asset to your instruction of Spanish/English in the elementary classroom!!!
