With the changing face of foreign language, students need the ability to use a dictionary in print or online as well as to be able to analyze words given through a translator. This introductory activity starts this process.
It is intended for beginning Spanish students who need to learn how a Spanish-English dictionary is setup and how best to use it. It includes some brief notes and discussion points about parts of speech and dictionary entries as well as some individual or paired practice walking through the actual book.
To show what they can do, students are asked to create an acrostic poem with their name in Spanish. There is an example provided to show as well as answers for the notes and practice.
