This exciting lesson is the perfect tool to celebrate Father’s Day in your classroom. You will be able to review colors, physical characteristics and adjectives. It is a great tool to have students describe their mom, her personality and practice “Tiene” and “Es” statements.
1) Distribute the worksheet called “Mi Padre” Ask students to attach a photo of their dad or someone who was like a dad to them
to the page for homework. Ask them to put his name in the blank
box underneath the picture.
2) Distribute the page with the heart to the class.
a. Make sure they understand the body parts vocabulary. They just
need to circle the correct answer.
b. Go over personality traits. Have students work with a partner
and complete the page.
c. Go over favorite activities page. They can write five things their
mom like to do in Spanish. Great chance to review AR/ER/IR
d. Ask them to put the names of their family members.
3) Students fill the “Mi Papá” Writing Prompt. Ask them to put a
small picture of them with their dad. They only need to copy
statements they circled in the description page. The sentences
have been written for them. Ask for ten statements. Collect both the
Portrait page and the statements. Send them home as a gift to
their dad. They will be amazed they can describe their dad. Great way to develop writing skills.
4) Easy scoring. You can have students do a rough draft and
collect it. You can grade it 2 points per sentence. For a total of 20 points.
