This is the seventh lesson of my new student-led learning series
called Figure Out!
This is Figure Out: Saber vs. Conocer!
and is aimed toward Spanish 1 or 2 students. The vocabulary used aligns with the Avancemos 1 textbook Unidad 6 Leccion 1 (sports vocabulary)
but can be used in any classroom!
These activities are used to introduce the different reasons for using "saber" and "conocer."
The concept behind the Figure Out! series is that students will completely teach themselves the new grammar including:
1) the six conjugations of each verb in the present tense
2) when to use each verb based on the context
I suggest handing this activity out and explaining to students that they must use the clues within the text (in this case, various speech bubbles), to figure out the different uses of "saber" vs. "conocer."
The second half of the activity includes writing complete sentences with the two verbs.
An answer key is included.
This is a fantastic, interactive way to have students take ownership in their learning and teach themselves the new verbs.
I promise you that you'll be amazed with how many connections students will be able to make as they read this activity and complete the activities.
