Spanish Greetings and Introductions Categories Activity
Categories! This is a great way to help students make connections among new vocabulary words and phrases. This product includes two options for students to put vocabulary for Spanish greetings and goodbyes into four categories: saludos, despedidas, preguntas, y cortesía. The first option is written, having students place vocabulary from their notes or textbook into the four categories. The second option is is a listening activity where the teacher will say vocabulary words/phrases out loud, and students will then choose the category based on what they hear. The listening option is also kinesthetic, having students move to different areas of the classroom that match their chosen category (wall signs included!).
These activities can be used for in-class practice, formative assessment, homework (written option), or review for later in the year/upper level students!
I recommend this product for use with typical beginning of the year vocabulary for greetings, goodbyes, basic questions (¿Cómo estás, etc.), and basic courtesy phrases (gracias, de nada, etc.). For specific vocabulary I use at at the beginning of the year, please see the following:
