Public and Personal Identities Unit
Scenario: You are studying abroad in Mexico. As part of your education there, you are taking a gender studies course. For your class assignment, you must read an article, interpret it, and participate in a class discussion.
Interpretive: Read an article about “Machismo and marianismo.” Answer comprehension questions.
Presentational: Write a paper explaining what the two terms mean and how they relate to identity and stereotypes.
Interpersonal: Class discussion (in small groups) about the two terms. Students will form and support an opinion based on the topic of gender roles.
