This is my complete course for Spanish IV (40 weeks) which is the course following the NYS Checkpoint B (former Regents) Exam. This course is aligned with UAlbany University in the High School ASPN 200 (UHS Intermediate Spanish I) and can be adapted to align with College Board AP courses by including the necessary thematic units.

A comprehensive review of present indicative including spelling and stem-changing verbs and irregulars. There is also a PBL-like project where students present a component of the present indicative to the class, provide a class activity, and evaluate student performance.

A comprehensive review of preterit indicative including spelling and stem-changing verbs and irregulars.

A comprehensive review of imperfect indicative including spelling and stem-changing verbs and irregulars.

A comprehensive review of the preterit and imperfect indicative with readings and online resources and a unit project where students write original fables to show understanding of the two tenses.

An introduction to the present subjunctive via review of formal imperative (commands).

Technology vocabulary with impersonal expressions that lead to the use of subjunctive. Included in this unit is a news article and original story juxtaposing the need for a cell phone with an essay prompt for students to share their opinion in DBQ style.

An in-depth study of the present subjunctive including stem and spelling change verbs and irregulars paired with vocabulary on love/ideal date. This unit includes real personal ads for students to read and answer as ideal candidates and an activity where students write a personal ad looking for a prom date. Students also learn about indefinite antecedents (I'm looking for a date (any date) who is/can/wants) which invokes subjunctive due to lack of preference and/or possible lack of existence.

Financial vocabulary paired with a complete review of present subjunctive and the introduction of adverbial clauses such as "in order to," "before that," "although," and "as soon as" referred to as ASPACE (expressions that always use subjunctive) and THECD (expressions that use the subjunctive when discussing future and non-habitual actions.

An introduction to the imperfect subjunctive which includes a review of preterit and imperfect indicative of expressions that invoke subjunctive (wishing/wanting/hoping, ordering/demanding, requesting, doubting, and expression emotion- WORDE).

An exposure to conditional if clauses to express alternate realities if something were to happen a certain way or if something in the past had happened differently and the effects it would have had on the present or future.

Composition correction codes with transitional vocabulary.
