In Spanish IV or V when you need a feminist poem-I like to use Bessy Reyna among others. My students have especially enjoyed her poem "Mientras Tu." This includes two activities to accompany this poem.
1. 3 Speaking prompts that address some of the issues in the poem. (If I have a large class, students start out in partners and then share as a class, but if it's a small class discussion would be whole group.) These usually get a great class discussion going and lead to more discussions.
2. Role-reversal poem. After discussion and reading the poem multiple times, the students homework is to re-write the poem from the opposite perspective.
Students are encouraged to present poems on the day of hand in.
