This is an ice breaker activity that I like to use in the first week of school. I have used it in both middle and high school with students who have previously studied Spanish. It's a great way to get students out of their seats and interacting in the target language!
There are three columns on the mixer sheet. The first column has a question in Spanish. Questions include: ¿Tienes un perro? ¿Eres hijo/a único/a? ¿Juegas al fútbol americano?
The second column has the answer in the yo form: Tengo un perro. Soy hijo/a único/a. Juego al fútbol americano.
The third column has a blank line.
For this activity, hand out a copy of ¡A conocernos! to each student in your class. Students walk around the room and ask each other the questions from the sheet in Spanish. If a student answers "no", the student who asked the question moves on and asks someone else. If a student answers "sí", he or she writes his or her name on the blank line next to the question. The first person to have names on every line on the sheet wins.
This is a great way to learn more about your students at the beginning of the school year!
