Help your students master the Spanish imperfect progressive with this six-page packet! Students will go from practicing basic phrases to writing complex sentences with reflexive verbs and interrupting preterite verbs. Here are descriptions for the six pages:
Page 1: Practice for writing the participles for given infinitive verbs (hablar – hablando). There is a section for regular verbs, e to i stem changers, o to ue stem changers, and participles that change the ending from -iendo to –yendo.
Page 2: Students first translate simple phrases (such as “I was bringing”) into Spanish, and then they find them in the wordfind.
Page 3: Guided practice for using reflexive verbs with the imperfect progressive.
Page 4: A fun word find that reviews everything from pages one through three.
Page 5: Guided practice for writing sentences where a regular preterite verb interrupts an imperfect progressive phrase.
Page 6: Guided practice for writing sentences where an irregular preterite verb (including –car, -gar, -zar verbs) interrupts an imperfect progressive phrase.
Additionally, there are six pages of corresponding answer keys. My Spanish 3 students enjoyed the variety of activities in this packet and gained a thorough understanding of the imperfect progressive through these practices, and I hope this helps your students as well!
We used this packet in conjunction with the Realidades 5B chapter in the level 2 book, but it would work well with any unit that includes the past progressive.
