Rainbow readings are a fun way to tackle reading skills, grammar, and comprehension while helping students identify their mastery of specific skills! Rainbow readings are designed to incorporate common core skills - reading for meaning and also analyzing how grammar works, how it sets the tone, and how it is used in authentic context.
Each one has a one-page reading passage with color-coded highlighting challenges. There is also a page of comprehension questions and an instruction page for the teacher to explore options of how to incorporate this activity in the classroom.
This activity reviews the Spanish imperfect tense - regulars and irregulars - and makes a brief mention of distinguishing between one-time events that use the preterite.
This reading is based on a eulogy - a girl speaking at her grandma's funeral about what her grandma was like, used to do, etc. It is more of a tribute than a sad story.
(This passage is the same as the choral reading passage for the same topic, but the coded reading tasks are different. The choral reading works more on speaking and pronunciation than the rainbow reading. The comprehension questions are the same.)
It includes PDF and DOC versions so you can edit as needed. It also includes a color-coded answer key that you can project for quick self-assessment.
This activity reviews Spanish imperfect conjugation – both regular and irregular verbs.
No prep - just print and go!
