Description
The very first day of school, I take my Spanish I students on a tour. The tour is totally in Spanish! We walk, stop, I point and then say the name in Spanish. They then look on their sheet to find the word, and then write the English equivalent. This activity is the perfect segue into teaching cognates, pointing out the grammatical gender of nouns, and familiarizing them with the building. Most of freshman, and they are newbies to the building.
