I made this game to help with letter naming fluency and differentiated instruction in centers.
You simply print out, laminate and cut out the cards and place them in a container (such as an empty tissue box, coffee can or sack) and students take turns picking a card. If they can name the letter on the card they picked, they get to keep the card. If they can't name the letter, they ask for help and put it back. If a student picks a "Boom!" card, then EVERYONE'S s hearts burst so the cards go back into the container and everyone plays again. Students love anticipating the "boom" while playing this game.
Additional Uses: I also like to change the objective of the game by having students say the sound of the letters instead and the same rules apply.
You can also use these cards as a matching activity without the Boom cards.
