Everything here you need to start the new year off with a bang: culture, reading, structure, and it will be relevant to what is going on outside the classroom!
This is a complete lesson about the new year in Spanish with vocabulary, pre-reading, a simplified reading (for Level II or for Level I with teacher assistance), and comprehension questions. The second part is optional and it features the future tense so that students can write new year's resolutions and make predictions about what the new year will bring. The final part of the lesson asks students to investigate online and to write about what they have learned.
The lesson is seven pages and can be done in two or three class periods.
I have included an answer key and a black-and-white version of the lesson to make printing easier. I have also included a lesson introduction with ideas, standards, extension suggestions, and rationale.
I am especially proud of how this lesson turned out and I hope your students will enjoy themselves while learning about the beautiful Spanish language and culture.
