Students assemble a 4 x 4 Spanish/English vocabulary puzzle with the 26 differenct Spanish onomatopoeia words. Sample words include achís, chof, cuac cuac, ñam ñam, pío pío, quiquiriquí, and toc toc.
Most words are repeated which makes the puzzle more challenging.
Just photocopy enough for a class set (1 for every 2 students if working in pairs, or 1 per student if working alone), cut and fasten with a paper clip. Distribute to students and challenge them to reassemble the puzzles as quickly as possible. There are two versions of the puzzle: one without vocabulary, and the other with a list of the vocabulary alongside the puzzle, which can be used as a vocabulary bookmark and reference.
Also included is a list of tips for use.
Use this puzzle anytime, but also:
1. As a fast finisher activity
2. As an extra sub plan activity
3. When doing an animal activity or unit
4. As a fun extra credit activity
5. As a station activity
6. As a game day activity
