This conversation-based learning system, featuring two students face-to-face asking questions and responding, will help develop the conversational skills of your language learners. As a teacher I model and then step away so that students can get as much individual practice as possible. Students will have completed a couple assignments so that they can now demonstrate the skills orally. They love working one-on-one with classmates, especially when it is all spoken and nothing needs to be written out.
Teacher should have students model how this activity works: students should face each other in their desks or chairs (sideways sitting should not be permitted. Student A has the set of questions while Student B may only have a set of cues. Student A asks the question and if necessary repeats the question as often as needed. Student B responds, putting his/her answer into a complete sentence.
Note: Student B does not see the question, but rather has to listen to his/her partner. Student A should not show the questions to Student B.
When the first set of questions is finished, the students raise their hands signaling 1 or 2. The teacher then brings them the second set.
Note: These exercises usually take between 15 and 20 minutes of class time to complete. So in this package you receive what ends up being 325-500 minutes 6-8 hours) of classroom activity time.
