Rainbow readings are a fun way to tackle reading skills, grammar, and comprehension while helping students identify their mastery of specific skills! Rainbow readings are designed to incorporate common core skills - reading for meaning and also analyzing how grammar works, how it sets the tone, and how it is used in authentic context.
Each one has a one-page reading passage with color-coded highlighting challenges. There is also a page of comprehension questions and an instruction page for the teacher to explore options of how to incorporate this activity in the classroom.
The context is a boss calling in an employee to fire him - I hoped that you had attended the meetings, but you were always late, etc. This activity reviews the Spanish past perfect subjunctive (hubiera) with regular and irregular past participles.
(This passage is the same as the choral reading passage for the same topic, but the coded reading tasks are different. The choral reading works more on speaking and pronunciation than the rainbow reading. The comprehension questions are the same.)
No prep - just print and go!
