This miniature memory game is a great way to help your students remember the Spanish words for different animals. Just print out the game and cut along the lines to make your set of small cards. For long-lasting results, use card stock and laminate them.
To play the game, students shuffle the cards and place them face down in a grid. As in classic Memory, students take turns searching for a match by turning over two cards at a time. If it’s a match, they keep them. In this game, a match is made with one picture and one word.
To give your students a chance to practice speaking, you can require that they name the animal aloud before collecting the cards for a match. Challenge you students to play this game can be played with no English at all by giving them a few words to help facilitate basic game play ("te toca a tí", "pareja/no pareja" etc.). It also makes a great take-home activity for younger students to share with their families.
