This is a simple page for young readers and writers to practice their vocabulary in a somewhat communicative context.
This drawing/writing activity will have students reading the greetings "hola" and "hasta luego" as well as completing sentences beginning with "me llamo" and "me gusta." Colors are specifically addressed and one speech bubble is left with a vague "Me gusta _____." sentence to be completed using another vocabulary set you have taught students. I gave students the opportunity of writing a shape, number, or letter for that sentence.
When students are done, you can have them free draw themselves using the head outline OR, if you have time, you can have them draw their body parts in a specific order. I give them instructions in Spanish to draw their mouths, then their ears, then their noses, then their eyes, etc. It works very well and successfully practices a variety of vocabulary sets.
I recommend having vocabulary posters around to help young learners spell words correctly.
This could be used as a simple assessment to see if learners can complete it by themselves. It's up to you!
