Place value can be a tricky concept for young minds to understand, but often a good manipulative will make it click!
[This resource is in SPANISH. This same resource is also available in ENGLISH! See Clipped Corner Place Value Cards
This resource has two sets of place value cards with clipped corners; large cards from 1 - 9,999 and small cards from 1 - 9,999,999. They are modeled after the examples given in the Singapore Math® and the Montessori curriculum.
These cards align by simply putting one card on top of the other, and lining up the clipped edge. Students can literally see and feel the difference in the place values of each number.
These are also excellent for teaching expanded form, as each card has zeros to hold all of the other places. Simply separate the stacked cards, and you have your number in standard form!
You can also use the cards with the included place value mat specially designed for use with Clipped Corner Place Value cards. This will help the student easily identify the place value of the number, from ones to ten thousands.
This resource includes cards with the numbers in COLOR, and in BLACK AND WHITE. The cards are color coded; units in all hierarchies are green, tens are blue, and hundreds are red. If you print in black and white, you'll want to use green, blue, and red paper to print it on. The colors help the students make connections between the numbers and further their understanding of place value.
This product includes a page further describing the usage of these cards and how to prepare them for your classroom, plus a link to my blog post sharing more details and showing them in action.
These cards can be used with any lesson or activity you currently have that teaches place value!
