“La Maestra dice” (El Maestro dice) is a fun way to have students repeat grammatically correct sentences filling in the "blank" trying to "match" the teacher. Teacher puts one sentence at a time on the board or interactive whiteboard. Next, students write down a word to fill in the blank. When all students have written down a word, each student quickly says the sentence with their word choice. Then, the teacher repeats the sentence with his or her word choice. La maestra dice:
¡Caramba! Alguien ha roto mi ___________ . (object)
¡Caramba! Alguien ha roto mi lápiz (bicicleta, teléfono movil).
Twenty verbs are covered in this exercise: romper, morir, abrir, viajar, comer, hacer, dar, devolver, ir, caerse, ser, decir, escribir, oír, vivir, traer, poner, leer, ver, and construir.
Note that the vosotros form is not used in these exercises. Omit sentences if you haven’t yet covered those verbs or add some from your text. A present perfect tense review sheet is also included.
Student worksheets (which repeat the sentences used in the game) are included for written work after the game.
