El Greco's famous painting, 'The Burial of Count Orgaz - El Entierro del Conde de Orgaz' has been laying rolled up in the basement of the Santo Tomé church in Toledo, Spain! Your team will have to travel back in time & successfully use Spanish verbs in the PRETERITE to return the painting to its rightful home.

► Students can complete this Breakout in one class period, but I've also included Lesson Plans & Resources to extend this to a Three or Four Day Lesson!!!

This Breakout contains two versions:

FORM A - this version is written at an INTERMEDIATE LEVEL & includes instructions written mostly in English. Additional clues to help solve the puzzle are included.

FORM B - this version is written at an ADVANCED LEVEL & includes instructions written mostly in Spanish. Students must use more advanced problem solving techniques as additional hints aren't provided.

The lock codes are the SAME for BOTH Form A & B - so you can also mix & match to make the level of difficulty match your student's needs.

This Breakout combines Culture & Grammar in an exciting way! Students have to use both regular & irregular preterite verbs in context to solve the clues. All the while they are learning about Greco's famous painting that is culturally rich & full of symbolism!

I've included a list of websites I used to create the Breakout. You can provide your students with this list to help them solve the clues faster.
