This Mercado de Cavo product focuses on the topic of Preterite vs Imperfect in Spanish. It contains: (1) a recording of my wife and I having a conversation in Spanish about our day, (2) a worksheet with several blanks that students have to listen for, and (3) a teacher copy of the same worksheet, with answers filled in.
This recording was scripted out ahead of time, but as I wrote it I tried to stay true to the phrases my wife (who's from Honduras) uses on a daily basis as well as the topics of conversation we usually have. I think this helps give students a feel for just how much the Preterite and Imperfect are intertwined in everyday conversation.
I use this activity with my Spanish 3 students, but it could be made more challenging for upper-level students by removing the word bank on the worksheet, or by not providing the script at all.
